Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has spoken candidly about the long wait before acting became financially rewarding for her.
In a recent interview with Nolly TV, she revealed that she entered the Nigerian film industry in 2001 but did not start earning a decent income until roughly eight years ago.
She explained that early earnings were minimal, describing the pay as “peanuts,” yet she and her peers continued working out of passion and the need to survive.
Turning Point After Years of Struggle
Abraham noted that her situation improved only when her career began to grow, leading to better‑paid roles and production opportunities.
“I just started making money eight years ago, and I’ve been in the film industry since 2001. Back then, we acted and got peanuts, but we did it just to survive.”

Rosman, known for her role in To Kill A Monkey, stressed that despite their visibility on television and social media, numerous actors still face significant financial challenges.
