Peter Obi and Dickson Meet to Settle NDC Internal Crisis
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, met with party National Leader Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) in a closed‑door session on Friday to address fallout from the recent primary elections.
The meeting lasted about three hours and aimed to reconcile internal disagreements that surfaced after the NDC primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senator Dickson shared details of the discussion in a statement on his verified Facebook page, describing the gathering as an opportunity to review party developments and address members’ concerns.
He said, “I just received my brother, colleague, and partner in the New Nigerian Project, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, CON, our presidential candidate, who, together with some distinguished leaders of our party, held a closed‑door meeting which lasted about three hours.”
Dickson added that the leaders reviewed party activities, discussed recent issues causing concern, and amicably resolved all matters.
Both Obi and Dickson reaffirmed their commitment to securing victory for the NDC and displacing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
While acknowledging that disagreements had arisen, Dickson noted that a framework had been agreed upon to manage such concerns moving forward.
He emphasized that both leaders remain aligned on the broader goal of winning elections for all NDC candidates and rescuing Nigeria from APC‑led misgovernance.
“However, a few issues have arisen, and we have agreed on how to handle them moving forward,” Dickson stated.
The NDC leader urged party members to cease internal bickering and name‑calling, urging them to focus on strengthening the party for future elections.
Dickson called for continuous consultations among leaders and stakeholders to maintain unity and cohesion within the NDC.
He concluded that both Obi and he, along with other party leaders, will keep engaging to resolve concerns, strengthen unity, and stay focused on the shared mission of rescuing Nigeria and building a better future for all.
