Liam Rosenior Appointed Paris FC Head Coach Shortly After Chelsea Sacking
English tactician Liam Rosenior has been named head coach of Paris FC, just three months after his dismissal by Chelsea.
The 41‑year‑old signed a two‑year contract with the Ligue 1 side, which includes an option to extend for a further season.
He replaces Antoine Kombouare after Paris FC finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season. The club, owned by the Arnault family with Red Bull holding a minority stake, aims to establish itself higher up the French top flight.
In its announcement, Paris FC highlighted Rosenior’s “wealth of experience at the highest level”, his ability to develop young players and his commitment to “attractive and attacking football”.
Rosenior’s brief spell at Chelsea began in January when he replaced Enzo Maresca, who departed after a disagreement with senior figures at Stamford Bridge before moving to Manchester City.
Although his start at Chelsea was promising, the Blues lost each of their final five Premier League matches under his leadership and failed to score in any of those defeats, leading to his exit in April.
Despite that disappointing finish, Rosenior’s reputation remains strong following his work at Strasbourg, where he guided the sister club to seventh place in the 2024‑25 Ligue 1 campaign, securing UEFA Conference League qualification with Europe’s youngest top‑five league squad.
Before Chelsea, Rosenior coached Brighton’s Under‑23s, served as Wayne Rooney’s assistant at Derby County, and had two spells in charge of Hull City, lifting the Tigers from 15th to seventh in the Championship before being narrowly denied a play‑off spot.
Chelsea have since appointed former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso as Rosenior’s successor, making him the sixth permanent boss at Stamford Bridge since BlueCo’s takeover.
