England’s World Cup Equipment Stolen En Route to Kansas City
England’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup have suffered an unexpected setback after a batch of squad equipment was stolen while being transported to their training base in Kansas City.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas confirmed that local, state and federal authorities have launched a joint investigation into the incident. In a statement posted on 𝕏, Lucas said officials learned that the items disappeared at some point between the over‑the‑road haul from Florida and the team’s arrival at the training facility.
“Public safety officials at the local, state and federal levels are working to trace where in the United States the items were seized and to identify anyone who may have been involved,” Lucas added. He noted that further details will be released by investigators as the probe progresses.
The Three Lions are scheduled to open their World Cup campaign against Croatia on Wednesday, followed by Group L matches versus Ghana and Panama. The theft has not yet been reported to affect the availability of essential kit for those fixtures.
