Davido Leads AFRIMMA 2026 Nominations
The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) have returned after a two‑year hiatus, unveiling the nominees for the 2026 edition.
Nigerian superstar Davido tops the list with the most nominations, including Artist of the Year, Best Male West Africa, Crossing Boundaries With Music Award, and AFRIMMA Album of the Year for his acclaimed album 5ive. His hit collaboration “With You” featuring Omah Lay also earned nods for Best Collaboration and Song of the Year.
Other Leading Contenders
Close behind Davido are Burna Boy, Ghana’s Black Sherif and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, each securing four nominations. South African sensation Tyla leads the female artistes with three nominations, while Nigerian singer‑songwriter Tems received two.
The nominations highlight the growing diversity and international appeal of African music, recognising artistes from across the continent for their achievements over the past year.
Founder’s Comment on the Comeback
AFRIMMA founder Anderson Obiagwu explained that the break was intentional to reposition the awards for a stronger return, promising fans an epic and enhanced experience.
