Nigerian Grammy‑winning singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, said she felt nervous while performing at the official dedication ceremony of the Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago.
She shared the feeling on X (formerly Twitter) after the high‑profile event on Wednesday, where she appeared alongside international music stars.
Tems admitted that her nerves affected her delivery and asked for forgiveness, writing, “Lord knows I was nervous! Please forgive me!!!”
The dedication took place at John Lewis Plaza on the 19‑acre campus, marking the formal opening of the $850 million facility ahead of its public launch on June 19.
Community activities are scheduled to continue through June 21.
Other performers included Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Common, Bono, The Edge, Marc Anthony and The Roots.
The Obama Presidential Centre celebrations began with the dedication on June 18 and will run with public opening and community events through June 21.
The centre also features a portrait created by Nigerian‑born artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby.
