Ogun APC Names Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as Deputy Governor Candidate for 2027 Election
The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled Mrs Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election and running mate to the party’s governorship hopeful, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
According to the governor, the decision emerged after consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.
Adegunwa-Balogun, a chartered accountant and daughter of businessman Adebola Adegunwa, secured the spot after the deputy position was zoned to Ogun East Senatorial District and later narrowed to Ijebu Central Federal Constituency.
At 51 years old, she currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of Finance and Administration at Rite Foods Limited.
Her selection is expected to strengthen the party’s appeal among professionals, women, and voters in Ogun East ahead of the election.
During the unveiling, Governor Abiodun praised APC leaders and members for preserving unity throughout the recently concluded primary elections.
He noted that the party produced candidates for various elective offices without major disagreements or internal crises.
The governor said the peaceful conduct of the governorship primary paved the way for smooth senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly primaries across the state.
He also commended aspirants who stepped down for the sake of party unity, saying their actions helped keep the party stable and prepared for future contests.
Abiodun added that national APC leaders lauded the Ogun chapter for avoiding factional disputes, court cases, and internal conflicts during the process.
The governor explained that picking the deputy candidate from Ogun East was based on fairness and balance, given that the gubernatorial candidate comes from Ogun West.
He said extensive consultations were held before Adegunwa-Balogun was selected and presented to the party for ratification.
