Rangers Extend Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Contract After NPFL Triumph
Rangers International have awarded head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu a one‑year contract extension, keeping him at the Enugu club through 2027. The deal follows another successful season in which Ilechukwu guided the Flying Antelopes to their ninth NPFL crown.
Coaching Legacy and Domestic Dominance
The extension reinforces Ilechukwu’s standing as one of Nigeria’s top domestic coaches. Since joining Rangers in 2023 after stints with MFM FC, Plateau United and Heartland, the 47‑year‑old has delivered two league titles, including the 2023/24 championship. Known as “The Working One,” he has transformed Rangers into a consistent force after years away from the summit of Nigerian football.
Continental Ambitions in the CAF Champions League
With his future secured, attention now turns to the CAF Champions League, where Rangers will represent Nigeria next season. The Flying Antelopes were eliminated in the second preliminary round of the 2024/25 edition by Angola’s Sagrada Esperança, losing 3‑1 on aggregate, and will be aiming for a stronger continental campaign.
Role with the Super Eagles Technical Crew
In addition to his club duties, Ilechukwu serves as an assistant coach with the Super Eagles technical crew, contributing his expertise to the national team setup.
