Arsenal Must Be at Their Best to Beat PSG in Champions League Final, Says Declan Rice
Declan Rice has warned that Arsenal will need to be at their absolute best if they hope to overcome Paris Saint‑Germain in Saturday’s Champions League final in Budapest. The Gunners, who secured the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City, will face the defending European champions at the Puskás Aréna after eliminating Atlético Madrid in the semi‑finals.
Speaking ahead of the showdown, Rice admitted that the French side poses a serious challenge.
“PSG are a really good side. We played them over two legs last year, and it could have gone either way. Speaking about it now, may the best team win,” Rice told UEFA.
“You need to be on your A‑game to beat PSG. You need that fire in your belly from the first whistle, the belief that you are going to win this final.”
“It’s the biggest competition in football. A Champions League final gets no bigger than that.”
Paul Merson Calls for Summer Strengthening
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has urged the club to bolster the squad this summer, despite their league triumph.
Merson believes Arsenal should pursue Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid and add another midfielder to the roster.
“I would get a centre forward this summer; I would go for Julian Álvarez,” Merson said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.
“I am a big fan. If they could sign him, I would. I still think they probably need another midfield player as well.”
