Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has opened up about a past relationship that ended before marriage, despite her former lover already purchasing an engagement ring. She revealed that she made the difficult decision after observing troubling signs related to his mental health and controlling tendencies.
According to the actress, things began well, but a close friend advised her to slow down and pay closer attention to certain red flags. Over time, she noticed that her partner became overly possessive and tried to control many aspects of her life—including how she dressed and the decisions she made.
Henshaw explained that the situation grew more distressing as she observed signs of mental health challenges and aggressive behaviour. She ultimately chose to end the relationship because she no longer felt safe or comfortable continuing with him.
The Nollywood star emphasised that protecting her peace and personal safety became her top priority as the relationship deteriorated.
“There was one who wanted to marry me, he has mental issues. I am sure if he sees this video he will know he is the one I am talking about. He is schizophrenic in nature, he is not alright. He had bought the ring and I was excited but my bestie told me to slow down. The man was very possessive.”
