President Bola Tinubu emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary conducted across Edo State’s 192 wards on Saturday.
Tinubu polled an impressive 131,096 votes, while his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, managed to secure just a single vote.
Governor’s Remarks on the Exercise
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who acted as the returning officer for the primary, described the process as peaceful and transparent.
He noted that he personally cast his ballot in his ward and confirmed that the final tally reflected the collated results from every ward in the state.
“The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. I participated in the election myself as I voted in my ward, and the results have been presented as they are from all the 192 wards in the state, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes while Osifo scored one vote,” the governor stated.
Vote Breakdown by Senatorial District
Collation officers from the state’s 18 local government areas delivered the results at the APC secretariat on Ikpoba Hill, GRA.
Edo South Senatorial District
In Oredo, Tinubu received 9,177 votes while Osifo got none.
Ikpoba-Okha delivered 13,147 votes for Tinubu and zero for Osifo.
Egor contributed 10,074 votes for Tinubu, with Osifo again recording no votes.
Additional figures from the district include:
- Orhionmwon – 6,858 votes for Tinubu
- Ovia South West – 10,044 votes for Tinubu
- Ovia North East – 7,983 votes for Tinubu (Osifo’s sole vote came from here)
- Uhunmwonde – 6,159 votes for Tinubu
Edo North Senatorial District
Tinubu’s performance in the north was also strong:
- Etsako Central – 4,564 votes
- Etsako East – 7,123 votes
- Owan East – 5,492 votes
- Owan West – 4,139 votes
- Akoko-Edo – 7,464 votes
- Etsako West – 11,497 votes
Osifo failed to secure any vote in the six local government areas that make up Edo North.
Edo Central Senatorial District
In the central district, Tinubu’s tallies were:
- Esan South East – 5,441 votes
- Esan North East – 4,111 votes
- Igueben – 5,467 votes
- Esan West – 6,820 votes
- Esan Central – 5,536 votes
Again, Osifo recorded zero votes across all five local government areas in Edo Central.
The overwhelming mandate underscores Tinubu’s dominance within the APC structure in Edo State as the party prepares for the forthcoming national elections.
