ADC Crisis Deepens in Benue as Youths Protest Alleged Plot Against Idoma Bloc
A major crisis has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State, with youths taking to the streets to voice their opposition to any move that could sideline the Idoma nation in the party’s governorship arrangement.
Protesters carried placards and chanted solidarity songs, insisting that Benue South deserves a fair opportunity to produce the ADC’s gubernatorial candidate. Their demonstrations underscore a growing demand for equitable representation within the party.
Amid the rising tension, the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, has remained silent on the issue. His lack of comment has further fueled suspicion and anxiety among party supporters across the state.
The situation took a dramatic turn in Okpokwu Local Government Area after reports emerged that the local ADC chairman was allegedly kidnapped by unknown persons. In response, heavily armed police officers reportedly took over the party secretariat in Okpoga to prevent a breakdown of law and order as panic spread among members and residents.
Adding to the controversy, Ejembi Adaje has called for the total cancellation of the party’s primary election in Enone, citing irregularities and arguing that the process failed to reflect the wishes of genuine party members.
