Morgan Rogers Wins Europa League Player of the Season
English midfielder Morgan Rogers has been named UEFA Europa League Player of the Season for his outstanding contributions to Aston Villa’s historic campaign. The 23‑year‑old played a pivotal role in Villa’s 3‑0 victory over SC Freiburg in the final, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
Throughout the tournament Rogers made 15 appearances, logging 1,088 minutes – more than any other Villa teammate. He finished with three goals and five assists, helping the club lift its first major trophy in 30 years.
Villa Dominate UEFA Team of the Season
Following their successful run, several Aston Villa players earned places in UEFA’s Team of the Season. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, captain John McGinn, forward Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers were all selected by the technical observer group.
Nottingham Forest, who reached the semi‑finals before falling to Villa, also saw defenders Igor Jesus and Morato included in the XI.
Individual Goals Recognised
UEFA’s technical panel highlighted two Villa strikes from the final among the season’s best. Emi Buendia’s effort was ranked fifth, while Youri Tielemans’ goal came in seventh. The top honour went to Jones El‑Abdellaoui of Celta Vigo for his stunning volley against Ludogorets Razgrad.
