Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji is set to contest the Osun 2026 governorship election. He has been affirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. Oyebamiji previously served as the Chairman of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
A total of 1,660 delegates affirmed Oyebamiji’s candidacy. He was nominated by Mr. Kunle Adegoke, SAN, a fellow aspirant. Senator Babajide Omoworare then seconded the nomination.
Kunle Adegoke, a former governorship aspirant, announced this affirmation. He stated that the APC national working committee endorsed the decision.
Adegoke further confirmed that other aspirants withdrew their bids. They stepped aside in favour of Oyebamiji.
Adegoke moved the motion for Oyebamiji’s adoption as the consensus candidate. He confirmed this was done with the consent of all other aspirants for the 2026 governorship election.
Following this, Governor Monday Okpebholo, Chairman of the primary election committee, called for a voice vote. All delegates unanimously affirmed Oyebamiji’s candidacy.
Governor Okpebholo then made the official declaration. He announced Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, as the party’s candidate, exercising the power vested in his committee chairmanship.
