Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His registration took place on Friday in Port Harcourt. The Tony Okocha-led Rivers State APC executive visited Governor Fubara. They met him at the Government House.
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, also attended the event. He was present during the governor’s APC documentation. Keyamo is currently in the oil-rich state. He is a guest for a road project commissioning.
During the brief ceremony, Okocha formally presented Governor Fubara with his APC membership card.
Fubara’s Justification for Joining APC
Governor Fubara described his political move as a “spiritual assignment.” He emphasized the need for alignment. Rivers State’s political direction, he stated, must match that of the President. This alignment is crucial for both stability and development.
“We cannot pursue a different direction,” Fubara explained. “The President is pursuing another.” He further elaborated: “Joining the APC demonstrates our commitment. It ensures a seamless working relationship. We will contribute meaningfully to his re-election efforts in the state.”
The governor noted his defection aims to safeguard the state’s progress. It will also ensure strong collaboration with the federal government. Aligning with President Tinubu, he added, will unlock development opportunities. This will ultimately secure the future of Rivers State.
