Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), recently made a significant statement. He declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could galvanize Nigerians. This, he suggested, could lead them to vote President Bola Tinubu out of office. Eze further indicated this move positions the ADC for a strong showing in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Eze claimed that President Tinubu’s actions have inadvertently paved the way for the ADC’s political rise. He believes Tinubu has made their aspirations for power in 2027 achievable.
In a statement, Eze highlighted his view that Tinubu’s administration has diminished Nigeria’s standing globally. He described the nation as a “laughing stock” internationally. Eze asserted that Nigerians now deserve a much-needed reprieve from current governance.
Eze emphasized the urgency of the situation. He stated, “With this timely, bold, and audacious move, the game has started.” He sees it as the beginning of a crucial battle. This battle aims to “rescue Nigeria from the shackles of bad democratic governance and clueless government.”
He expressed strong confidence in Atiku Abubakar’s capabilities. Eze believes Atiku will leverage his extensive network, political wisdom, and leadership experience for the ADC’s benefit.
Eze painted a clear picture for the future. He noted, “Now that Atiku has finally joined the ADC,” the party gains significant momentum. He also mentioned Rotimi Amaechi’s “winning streak.” Amaechi served as Campaign Director General for Muhammad Buhari in both the 2015 and 2019 Presidential Elections. Eze concluded that “the coast is now clear for a new Nigeria.”
Eze reiterated his core argument. He stated that Tinubu’s administration has made the ADC’s 2027 “enthronement” possible. He cited widespread poverty and the government’s perceived unpreparedness to tackle Nigeria’s severe security challenges as key factors.
Although Eze has not yet officially joined the ADC, he affirmed his intention. He assured that he would “sooner or later” align with other progressives. Their collective goal, he said, is to “rescue the country.”
Eze made a broad appeal for unity. He urged prominent figures like Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, David Mark, and Nasir El-Rufai to collaborate. He also called upon all Atiku supporters and others dedicated to Nigeria’s reconstruction. Their collective aim, he stressed, should be to “work with unity of purpose.” This effort, he added, is to remove President Tinubu from office in 2027.
