Nollywood actress and producer Mary Remmy Njoku recently shared her candid thoughts. She spoke about achieving fame and success in the entertainment industry.
During her address at the NECLive panel, Njoku reflected on her own journey. She explained how she built her brand and wealth. This came from identifying and solving problems within the creative sector.
However, she also acknowledged a stark reality. The media spotlight often falls on those who engage in extreme or surprising actions. This approach frequently overshadows genuine efforts.
Njoku urged young creatives to use their influence positively. This is important despite the difficulties. It can be hard to gain recognition for truly good work.
She expressed her views clearly, stating: “I got rich by solving problems. If you want to blow right now, you can’t blow by doing good. You have to do something stupid or crazy right now. And it’s not fair on the very few people that are doing good.”
Her comments highlight a perceived paradox. In the quest for viral fame, sensationalism often takes precedence. This challenges those who aim for impactful and meaningful contributions.
