Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu believes the steady defection of governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) reflects growing confidence. He noted that Nigerians increasingly trust the party’s leadership.
Sanwo-Olu pointed out the significant increase in APC governors. The number grew from “barely 18 or 19” in previous years to 25 today. This growth, he said, shows trust in the APC’s direction.
“We are now 25 progressive governors,” he stated. “When we began, we were barely 18 or 19. This growth proves Nigerians trust our party’s direction.”
The Governor commended his colleagues for their commitment. He acknowledged their efforts towards national development. Their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was also praised. Sanwo-Olu highlighted the unity and cultural representation seen during their meeting. He called it a “strong demonstration of unity in diversity.”
He stressed, “I want to sincerely thank my colleagues. They stayed through more than 12 hours of rigorous discussions. It is never easy. But you all showed exceptional commitment to our nation’s progress.”
Sanwo-Olu added, “You came prepared. You represented your states beautifully. Lagos is proud to host you. People back home will ask you for this cultural experience. You truly showed what unity in diversity means.”
The APC governors used the meeting to discuss key national issues. Security and welfare were primary topics. They agreed to submit collective recommendations to the President.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also reaffirmed the forum’s loyalty to President Tinubu. He described him as “a father, leader, and humble statesman.”
He explained, “For the past 12 hours, we asked ourselves tough questions. How do we better the lives of our people? How do we support our President? How do we strengthen our country by supporting the national agenda?”
“We have committed ourselves to supporting Mr President,” he concluded. “We will ensure his government succeeds and succeeds very well.”
