Iyiola Omisore, former Deputy Governor of Osun State, has spoken out. He insists his disqualification from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race was a deliberate act. Omisore believes the decision aimed for a predetermined outcome.
He further warned of “dangerous consequences” for the APC’s future in Osun State. This, he stated, would occur if the alleged injustice is not properly addressed. The former APC National Secretary dismissed the screening committee’s reasons for his disqualification. He described them as “completely untrue, malicious, and embarrassing.”
Omisore revealed he is yet to receive any formal notification of his purported disqualification. He has urged the Appeal Committee to correct what he termed an injustice. He shared his concerns after appearing before the committee.
Omisore’s Appeal to the Committee
During his appearance, Omisore highlighted the lack of official communication. “Today, I appeared before the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee,” he wrote. “This was despite not having received any formal notification personally addressed to me.”
He vehemently denied the circulating reasons for his disqualification. “The reason circulating on social media is completely untrue,” Omisore stated. This reason involved alleged failure to be nominated by financial party members. He called it “malicious, embarrassing, and clearly crafted to justify a predetermined outcome.”
Omisore also addressed the press alongside six other aspirants. They were also purportedly disqualified. He issued a stern warning. “The imposition of a lackey as the party’s candidate poses a grave risk,” he cautioned. This risk, he added, threatens the APC’s chances in the 2026 election.
“If this injustice is not urgently corrected,” Omisore stressed, “it may spell serious consequences. This affects our party’s future in the state.” He then concluded his appeal to the committee. He earnestly requested a thorough review of the screening committee’s decision. Omisore sought “an appropriate and just remedy.”
Earlier Reactions to Disqualification
This is not the first time Omisore has reacted strongly. Earlier on Saturday, he spoke with newsmen in Abuja. He had criticised his initial disqualification then. He called the decision “a huge joke.” Omisore also accused the screening panel of bias. He cited procedural violations in their process.
