Dan Nwanyanwu has issued a stern warning. He is a former presidential candidate for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). Nwanyanwu claims individuals pushing ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to contest in the 2027 election have hidden motives. They simply want to “use him to clean their mess,” he stated.
Nwanyanwu urged Jonathan to exercise extreme caution. He advised against succumbing to calls for a 2027 presidential bid. The former candidate stressed that the situation remains unclear. Those involved, he added, have not yet fully grasped the consequences of their past actions.
When questioned about Jonathan’s potential return, Nwanyanwu shared his perspective. “I have not spoken with President Jonathan,” he began. “I intend to see him very soon. However, I believe he should wait for a while.” Nwanyanwu elaborated on his reasoning. “The very people calling him now are the same ones who betrayed an honest and good man,” he asserted. “They betrayed a man of good conscience.”
“Their goal is to use him to cover up their mistakes,” Nwanyanwu explained. “The situation has not yet fully matured.” He implied that these individuals have not truly acknowledged their past misdeeds. “They will eventually realize the full extent of their actions,” he concluded.
Nwanyanwu also commented on broader political issues. “Political parties certainly have their challenges,” he observed. “Many of us often refuse to obey the established rules.” He highlighted constitutional provisions regarding power rotation. “The Constitution dictates where power should reside at different times,” he noted. “Currently, I believe the South should complete another four-year term.” Nwanyanwu acknowledged potential criticism. “If I state this publicly, people might accuse me of supporting President Tinubu,” he remarked.
