The Accord Party is actively preparing for the Osun State 2026 governorship election. Its National Executive Council (NEC) recently approved a Caretaker Committee for the party’s Osun chapter.
Pastor Victor Akande will lead this committee. This appointment follows the expiration of the former leadership’s tenure.
Electoral Committee Formed, Optimism High
The council also constituted an Electoral Committee. This body will oversee the party’s governorship primaries in Osun State. The Accord Party expressed great optimism about its prospects. It believes Accord will win the 2026 election.
Waiver for New Aspirants Approved
Among other resolutions, the NEC approved a general waiver. This benefits many new members. These individuals recently joined Accord. They now intend to contest elections under its banner. This initiative aims to promote inclusiveness. It also seeks to expand the party’s electoral base.
New Directorates and Grassroots Mobilisation
The party further approved the establishment of Women and Youth Directorates. These will operate at all levels. This includes National, Zonal, State, Local Government, Ward, and Polling Units. The NEC stated these directorates will boost membership recruitment. They will also enhance grassroots mobilisation nationwide.
Promoting Unity and Leadership Confidence
In a move towards unity and progress, Accord lifted suspensions. Several members in Osun State are now reinstated. This comes as the party intensifies preparations for the governorship election.
The NEC further affirmed Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem’s leadership. It passed a vote of confidence in him. His position as National Chairman remains secure.
