Popular Nigerian On-Air Personality (OAP) Dotun Kayode has fiercely criticized the United States Embassy in Nigeria. He accuses them of enabling his estranged wife to abduct their two daughters internationally.
Dotun’s estranged wife had previously made allegations. These included domestic violence, emotional abuse, and a forced abortion. Dotun has consistently denied all these claims.
In his counterclaims, Dotun stated his wife and her family began hindering his access. This blocked his contact with their daughters.
OAP Dotun Details Allegations Against US Embassy
Dotun recently shared fresh allegations on his social media platforms. He highlighted the US Embassy’s significant role. This involved a dramatic turn in his ongoing custody dispute.
He specifically accused the embassy of flouting a court order. This action, he stated, aided what he considers international child abduction.
Dotun explained his estranged wife unlawfully removed their two children from Nigeria. This happened three years ago. She took them to the United States without his consent. An active divorce and custody case was then pending in a federal high court.
He asserted that he held the children’s original passports. Furthermore, a court order explicitly barred the children from leaving the jurisdiction.
Dotun demanded accountability from the embassy. He particularly named former consular general, Mary Beth Leonard. He believes a compromised and biased process facilitated his ex-wife’s actions.
“Papers were most likely forged,” Dotun stated. “Or games were played.”
He continued, “The American embassy in Nigeria enables child abduction. It is very biased. There was no proper investigation.”
“They destroy families and do not protect kids,” he added. “I have written for years. I also kept quiet for three years. It’s time to speak out. I now realise you all think you uphold a fair system, but you are very unfair.”
The OAP now urges the embassy for action. He wants them to either provide his children. Alternatively, he demands a fair explanation. He asks how their strict two-parent consent policy was bypassed. This, he says, enabled what he terms international parental child abduction.
