Renowned Nollywood actor, Taiye Arimoro, has publicly challenged his recent suspension. He questioned the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) regarding their decision.
In a joint statement issued on Friday, the three prominent guilds announced Arimoro’s suspension. This action followed an altercation on a movie set involving his colleague, Peggy Ovire.
Details of the Suspension
The joint document, dated November 27, 2025, outlined the guilds’ findings. It stated that their disciplinary committees reviewed the incident. They concluded that Taiye Arimoro was the primary aggressor in the altercation.
Arimoro was accused of several actions. These included assaulting the production manager and the driver. He also allegedly circulated a misleading live video. This video reportedly misrepresented events and falsely implicated producer Peggy Ovire. The guilds noted that Ovire was not present during the initial confrontation.
Following these findings, the guilds issued a unified decision. They suspended the movie star from all Nollywood productions indefinitely.
Conditions for Reinstatement
The guilds set clear conditions for Arimoro’s reinstatement. He is expected to issue a public apology to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director. Furthermore, he must release a corrective video. This video should accurately state the sequence of events.
Taiye Arimoro has also been directed to complete his remaining scenes for the movie. This must be done under supervised conditions. He is also required to fully comply with any further instructions from the guilds.
Arimoro’s Reaction to the Suspension
In response to the suspension, Arimoro quickly took to his Instagram story. He questioned the basis of the guilds’ investigation. He posted, “Can someone please tell these ones to stop playing..? What was the basis of your investigation please..? Omo me, I think I’m in the mood for an IG live.”
His post clearly indicates his rejection of the guilds’ findings and his readiness to address the issue further publicly.
