Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has publicly described his marriage as a divine arrangement. The 51-year-old artist strongly asserted that his wife was “specifically prepared” for him by God. He stressed that allowing another woman to bear his child would be a “stupid” decision.
A Two-Decade Divine Union
The ‘Mr Lecturer’ hitmaker highlighted the sacred nature of their union. He pointed to their two decades together as proof. Abdulkareem also recounted a pivotal moment in their marriage. His wife famously donated one of her kidneys to save his life.
“I met my wife on September 18, 2003,” he shared. “We married on December 11, 2004.” He stated his actions align with God’s guidance. “Twenty years later, God confirmed His plan. He reminded me of our covenant. This is 21 years on. I want to show you why your prayer was accepted.”
Abdulkareem firmly reiterated his commitment. “God gave me my own wife, not someone else’s. Why would I be so foolish as to let another woman give birth to a child for me?”
Eedris Abdulkareem on Polygamy: The Case for Sincerity
While acknowledging traditional African and Islamic permissions for polygamy, the musician called for honesty. He argued that truly loving multiple women equally is an impossible feat.
“As Africans, polygamy is culturally allowed,” he admitted. “Islam also permits marrying many, provided you love them equally. But let’s be sincere. It’s not possible to love women equally. You can only truly love one woman.”
He offered wisdom to fellow men. “Secondly, men possess wisdom. If you desire a long life, ensure only one woman bears all your children. If you seek a sweet life, choose one woman for all your offspring.”
