Arne Slot states he is not worried about his job. This comes as Liverpool sinks deeper into trouble. They suffered another painful defeat.
Anfield stadium was silenced on Wednesday night. PSV Eindhoven thrashed Liverpool 4-1 in the Champions League. This result highlights the club’s alarming drop in form.
The setback marks Liverpool’s ninth loss in 12 matches. This covers all competitions. The Premier League champions are sliding both at home and abroad.
Slot’s Stance on Job Security
Speaking after the match, Slot admitted the performance was poor. It was not at the expected level. But he said speculation over his position does not concern him.
“I am not worried,” Slot affirmed. “My focus is on other things. I need to do better. I know that.”
He continued, “I speak to the Liverpool hierarchy. We have normal conversations. I feel their trust. They don’t call me every minute to affirm this. I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet. So, let’s see!”

Disappointment Over Performance
Slot described the nature of the defeat as difficult to understand. This is especially true given the squad’s talent.
“This is very unexpected. It is unexpected when you look at the quality we have,” he stated.
He also pondered, “Is it a lack of confidence? I did not see that in the first half. The mentality shown by these players since I arrived is usually much stronger.”
Liverpool’s Troubling Run
Slot took over from Jürgen Klopp in the summer. He has not faced such a difficult period until now. Liverpool was expected to challenge strongly this season. They now sit 12th in the Premier League. They are 13th in their Champions League group.
The heavy loss to PSV followed other defeats. These included back-to-back 3-0 losses. Manchester City and Nottingham Forest inflicted these. This adds to the urgency around the club.
Even so, Slot reiterated his focus. He will not be swayed by talks of dismissal.
“I’m not worried,” he repeated when asked about his future. “My focus is on other things. It’s not on worrying about my own position.”
He added, “I try to analyse. I try to help the players as much as I can. It’s obvious I am not doing it as well as last season. Individual errors also stem from a team effort, I believe.”
