Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy has reportedly cancelled several arena dates on his ongoing ‘NSOW Tour’.
This decision comes amidst a significant drop in ticket sales across various cities. Reports indicate that the decline in demand followed a widely circulated video.
The controversial clip showed the Grammy-winning artist removing concert-goers from a show. He allegedly did this for “sleeping” during his performance, sparking considerable backlash online.
Following the public outcry, interest in upcoming tour dates reportedly diminished. This prompted his management team to discreetly adjust the tour schedule. Consequently, five planned arena shows were quietly halted.
Addressing the controversy, Burna Boy offered an apology at a recent show in Dallas. He expressed regret and asked for understanding over the situation.
The artist openly acknowledged the incident’s impact on his career. He stated, “I know my ticket sales are suffering since that incident. Even the coffee I introduced no one is buying.”
Burna Boy concluded his address by asking for forgiveness. He added, “So please I am sorry to everyone and everything I said. It was a slip of tongue.”
