Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold recently shared a deeply personal experience. He revealed a moment that brought tears to his eyes. This emotional event happened a few months ago. He was watching his daughter, Deja, perform for the very first time.
The performance took place via a video call. Adekunle Gold described feeling a powerful mix of pride and longing. He deeply wished he could have been there in person. This milestone moment for his daughter made him reflect. He considered the sacrifices involved in building a successful music career. Balancing this with family responsibilities is challenging.
These strong emotions directly inspired one of his songs. He explained that “My Love is the Same” was born from this experience.
He recalled, “That was the last time I cried. It was about two or three months ago. Deja was performing, and I wasn’t there. They called me on video to show me. It was her very first performance.”
He continued, “It felt crazy. This is the price you sometimes pay for building your career. You also have to care for your family. This is one major reason I wrote ‘My Love is the Same.’ It’s a unique struggle. She was confidently performing. I just thought, ‘Oh damn, I wish I was there.’ I started to cry.”
