Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government. He claims their primary concern is destroying opposition political parties.
Galadima, a member of the NNPP Board of Trustees, highlighted a concerning trend. He stated the APC government appears preoccupied with welcoming defectors. This focus distracts from actively tackling Nigeria’s severe insecurity challenges.
He stressed that governance is a critical responsibility. Leaders across all levels—federal, state, and local—must commit to their duties. Their main objective should be to safeguard citizens’ lives and properties.
Galadima asserted, “The Federal Government dedicates 99% of its time to political maneuvering.”
He continued, “Governance, especially in Nigeria, demands seriousness. It is not about personal gain. Instead, it measures the sacrifice leaders make for their people.”
“A Nigerian president, governor, or even a Local Government chairman should have minimal leisure,” Galadima argued. “The rest of their time must be spent actively working. We are not seeing this dedication currently.”
He further claimed, “This government prioritizes welcoming defectors and attempting to dismantle opposition parties. I want the world to know this is not in their best interest. Without a strong opposition, democracy cannot thrive.”
“The absence of democracy leads to fascism and dictatorship,” Galadima warned. He urged the government to “think critically and take necessary steps to protect lives and properties.”
