The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to the Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Atta.
The party conveyed its concerns in a letter dated November 21, 2025. Signed by Abdullahi Abbas, the APC Kano State Chairman, the letter highlighted Minister Atta’s “unruly behaviour” and “inflammatory remarks.”
The communication strongly cautioned Minister Atta to stop making comments on party affairs. It warned that failure to comply could lead to his expulsion from the party.
The APC stated that Atta’s public statements could “provoke misunderstandings and disunity among members.”
Copies of the letter reached key party figures. These included President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. Also copied were Kano State Party Leader, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the APC North-West Zonal Vice Chairman.
The party clarified that Minister Atta holds no public relations role within the APC. Therefore, his public comments might be mistakenly viewed as official party positions. The leadership and designated spokespersons of the APC handle all party-related matters.
While acknowledging Atta’s right to support any aspirant, the APC reminded him of his role. As an Honourable Minister and a member of the Federal Executive Council, he is expected to promote unity. His focus should be on issues that bring all party members together.
The letter also noted Atta’s “habit of making uncomplimentary and derogatory public pronouncements.” It warned that continued engagement in such behaviour would lead to “further disciplinary action.”
