Shehu Yohanna, Chairman of the Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will soon register as an official party member.
Yohanna revealed this development during an interview with Punch newspaper. He confirmed Atiku’s upcoming visit to Yola, Adamawa’s capital, for birthday celebrations and community activities in his hometown of Jada Local Government Area.
The chairman expressed confidence that the former vice president would formalize his ADC membership during the visit. Yohanna stated:
“I spoke with the former Vice President on Tuesday morning after his arrival in Nigeria. He told me he would be in Yola for his birthday and to distribute items in Jada. I believe he will register officially and collect his membership card. Other intending members will follow this process.”
When questioned about internal party conflicts within Adamawa’s ADC chapter, Yohanna declined comment, noting: “The case is in court, so I will not comment to avoid contempt.”
This registration follows previous missed deadlines. The ADC initially set August 2025 for Atiku’s membership formalization. After postponement to September 2025, the exercise failed to occur without explanation.
