A friendly football match between Angola and Argentina in Luanda descended into chaos outside the stadium. Local reports confirm 70 fans sustained injuries during the incident.
The November 14 match took place at Luanda Stadium. This venue has a 50,000-seat capacity. The Angolan Football Federation distributed 48,000 tickets for the event.
Tensions escalated hours before kickoff. Crowds swarmed the stadium entrances aggressively. Many supporters tried forcing their way inside. This triggered widespread disorder.
Medical officials confirmed 23 injuries from trampling or falls. Another 47 fans required treatment for health issues. These included headaches and high blood pressure. Overcrowding, heat, and chaos caused these conditions.
Confrontations between police and fans intensified. Officers blocked entry for those without tickets. They also barred fans carrying prohibited items. These included slippers, bags, and hats.
“Pushing and arguments created dangerous chaos,” authorities stated. “Security concerns forced multiple entrance closures.”
Despite violent clashes, no arrests occurred. The match proceeded following initial disruptions.
Argentina secured a 2-0 victory against Angola. Lautaro Martínez scored in the 44th minute. Lionel Messi added another goal in the 82nd minute.
