Former Chelsea and Brazilian midfielder Oscar has been hospitalized after medical staff detected a heart irregularity during routine examinations. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Sao Paulo FC’s SuperCT training complex.
The 33-year-old player, who recently joined the club ahead of the 2026 season, was undergoing pre-season checks when doctors identified the cardiac issue. Medical teams from both Sao Paulo FC and Israelita Einstein Hospital immediately attended to the midfielder.
Club Confirms Stable Condition
Sao Paulo FC released an official statement confirming Oscar’s hospitalization. The club emphasized that the athlete remains clinically stable. He is currently under medical observation at the hospital.
“During Tuesday morning examinations at SuperCT, Oscar experienced cardiac changes,” the statement read. “Our medical team and specialists from Israelita Einstein Hospital provided immediate care.”
The club added that Oscar will undergo additional diagnostic tests. Updates on his condition will be shared after test completion, with the player’s consent.
Oscar’s Football Journey
The Brazilian midfielder gained prominence during his Chelsea tenure from 2012-2017. After leaving England, Oscar had an extended spell with Chinese club Shanghai Port. He returned to Brazil earlier this year to join Sao Paulo FC.
