Nottingham Forest Part Ways With Ange Postecoglou After 39 Days In Charge

Nottingham Forest Football Club have confirmed the departure of head coach Ange Postecoglou after a brief and challenging tenure. The decision follows a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, marking the end of a difficult period for the club.

In a brief statement, the club announced: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou’s arrival was initially intended to bring stability after a rocky start to the season. However, the team struggled significantly under his leadership. The side managed to secure only one point from five league matches during his tenure, leaving them in 17th place and just one point above the relegation zone.

The team’s performances were marked by defensive vulnerabilities and a lack of effectiveness in the attacking third. Notably, Forest conceded 10 goals from set pieces during his time in charge, more than any other Premier League side in that period. They also conceded 16 goals within the first 10 minutes of the second half across matches, while scoring only once in five league games.

Results under Postecoglou included defeats to Arsenal, Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, with draws against Burnley and Real Betis offering little consolation.

The former Tottenham manager departs with the unwanted record of being the first Nottingham Forest manager to fail to win any of his first eight games in charge.
