Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Sparks Speculation with Mysterious Post Mentioning Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has stirred conversation across social media after posting what many believe to be a veiled message aimed at teammate Victor Osimhen.

The post comes only days after an on-field incident during Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Benin Republic in a 2026 World Cup qualifier. Nwabali, who has faced criticism for recent performances, was seen in heated exchanges with teammates Wilfred Ndidi and Calvin Bassey during the match.

At one point, Nwabali shoved Ndidget when the midfielder attempted to calm him following a confrontation with a Benin player. Cameras later captured him in a heated discussion with Bashey as the teams exited for halftime.

Adding to the speculation, the Chippa United goalkeeper took to Instagram with a story that read: “I never fake care anyone. What I give, I give from my heart. Choose a good heart. People change so fast… I believe you VO9.”

The mention of “VO9”, Osimhen’s shirt number, has led to speculation that the striker is involved in a misunderstanding within the squad.

Nwabali’s recent performances, including a subpar display in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Lesotho, had already drawn calls from fans for him to be benched. However, head coach Eric Chelle stood by him, insisting on his continuity as he started the goalkeeper against Benin Republic less than four days later.

At the time of writing, Nwabali has yet to clarify his post. Osimhen, for his part, has remained silent, leaving the true meaning of the message open to interpretation.
