Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 elections, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The prominent businessman and politician described his defection as a crucial step toward rebuilding national unity.
Ajadi announced his departure through formal letters addressed to NNPP leadership at all administrative levels. He emphasized that this political shift followed careful consideration of Nigeria’s direction.
Ajadi Explains Move to PDP
“My decision is both strategic and patriotic,” Ajadi stated during his announcement. “While I respect the NNPP’s principles, I believe PDP currently offers a stronger platform.” He highlighted the PDP’s potential for national reconciliation and youth empowerment.
The former presidential aspirant clarified that no conflict prompted his exit. “There’s no bad blood with my former party,” Ajadi noted. “Nigeria faces critical challenges like economic hardship and unemployment. Patriots must unite to restore governance trust.”
Ajadi’s defection signals significant political realignment before the 2027 general elections. “Nigeria stands at a crossroads,” he observed. “We need selfless leadership responsive to citizens’ needs.”
PDP Welcomes New Member
South-West PDP leaders hailed Ajadi’s entry as a “democratic family boost,” praising his integrity and youth engagement. They particularly noted his social development initiatives.
Ajadi reaffirmed his governance vision: “This transcends party politics. We must rebuild Nigerians’ faith in democracy.” He pledged collaboration with PDP leaders nationwide to advance peace and unity.
The politician stressed his commitment to transparent leadership, vowing to help citizens “experience tangible dividends of good governance” through his new political platform.
