Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate George Moghalu has rejected the results of Anambra State’s November 8, 2025 election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as winner.
Moghalu addressed journalists at his Nnewi office within hours of the declaration. He insisted the election failed to reflect voters’ will. He described the process as deeply flawed.
“This election fell short of expectations. I reject it entirely,” Moghalu stated. “Vote buying reached alarming levels unseen in my previous contests.”
The candidate reported minors carrying voter cards and casting ballots. “Children visibly participated despite voting age restrictions. This questions the process’s integrity,” he alleged.
Moghalu also cited ballot paper irregularities. Labour Party’s logo was missing in some polling units. This could have confused voters seeking the party.
“These disturbing reports require serious attention,” he emphasized. “The irregularities are too significant to ignore.”
Moghalu stated he would determine his next steps after reviewing agents’ statewide reports. “We’ll analyze the full findings first. But my rejection stands firm.”
He declined to confirm legal action, calling such speculation premature. Missing LP agents at polling units, he suggested, may have left due to frustration with observed malpractices.
