Umar Damagum, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has cautioned party members about the inevitable repercussions of betrayal. Speaking at a Thursday meeting with the Forum of State PDP Chairmen, Damagum referenced the principle of karma while urging straying members to realign with the party.
“I appeal to colleagues being manipulated to reject destructive influences,” Damagum stated. “Treachery against the institution that shaped you leaves lasting wounds. Temporary gains don’t override karma’s law—actions eventually circle back.”
He emphasized divine accountability, noting: “Our existence stems from God’s will. He observes and judges our conduct. Some misinterpret my faith as weakness, yet wisdom requires few words.”
Damagum dismissed claims of the PDP’s irrelevance, asserting: “Nigerian politics centers on our party today. You can’t discuss what doesn’t exist. Our vitality is proven. The PDP remains equipped to navigate internal challenges and solve national issues.”
The chairman also warned the federal government against oppressing opposition voices. “Nigeria belongs to everyone. We pursue lawful objectives without intimidation,” he declared. “Temporary power never justifies misconduct. Unjust actors will eventually face consequences.”
