Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has unveiled a 21-player roster for Nigeria’s crucial final qualifying clash against the Benin Republic in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The two-legged tie will determine which team secures a spot in next year’s tournament in Morocco, which also serves as a qualifying pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Benin will host the first leg at Stade Kegue in Lomé, Togo, as they do not have a Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved stadium. The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
The ten-time African champions Nigeria are the favorites to advance, boasting a squad rich in experience and talent. Leading the team is captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was named Player of the Tournament at the last Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
Ajibade, who recently scored for Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Women’s Champions League match against Real Madrid, will be a key figure in inspiring the team.
Also on the roster is goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has been crowned Africa’s Goalkeeper of the Year for two consecutive years. The list also features defenders Michelle Alozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Osinachi Ohale, as well as midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini, and Deborah Abiodun.
In the attacking department, Madugu has called upon the experience of Asisat Oshoala, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Esther Okoronkwo, alongside rising stars Folashade Ijamilusi and Kafayat Mafisere.
