Rufai Oseni Criticises Peter Obi for Lack of Clear Policy Details Ahead of 2027 Election
Nigerian media personality Rufai Oseni has criticised the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, for failing to articulate clear policy proposals on how he intends to tackle the nation’s challenges.
Speaking on ARISE Television’s Morning Show, Oseni said that with the general election only six months away, candidates must move beyond broad promises and explain the specific ideas and methodologies behind their plans.
He argued that Nigerians should already have seen detailed manifestos and policy frameworks from those seeking the presidency.
Oseni stated, “And that’s what I did not see yesterday. I didn’t see the how. We can’t run a country on vibes. By now, if elections are in January, we are now in August, we have not seen manifesto. Six months to go.”
He added, “Secondly, we are not seeing proper articulation of how you will do it.”
Oseni urged candidates to stop telling voters what they will do and start explaining how they will achieve it, emphasizing the need to debate the workability of ideas.
He also criticised the frequent pledge to fix insecurity without outlining the strategy behind it, saying, “We will fix insecurity. How? And please, people should stop telling us ‘I don’t want to share my operational details’.”
Clarifying that candidates are not expected to reveal operational specifics, Oseni noted that what the public needs are overarching details, methodology, and a clear explanation of how policies will be implemented.
The broadcaster further expressed a desire to hear technical and methodological explanations on critical sectors, particularly electricity, from the candidates.
He concluded, “I mean, these are things as regards technicality and methodology. These are the things I want to hear from our candidates.”
