A Nigerian NYSC corps member recalled a striking incident during his service when probing missing cocoa stock sparked an unexpected public showdown.
Accountant uncovers theft
He revealed on social media that he served as an accountant for a cocoa trader throughout his NYSC year, noting that despite receiving a permanent job offer afterward, he chose not to accept it.
He said that a few months into the assignment, his supervisor flagged ongoing losses at the warehouse and tasked him with looking into the vanished inventory.
He recalled his boss asking, “Abi no be wetin accountant suppose sabi do?”
He examined the accounts, matched store logs and found inconsistencies that implicated two store attendants.
He forwarded his report to his manager, anticipating a discreet resolution.
Boss’s decision leaves corper uncomfortable
Yet, the next day the manager called a full‑staff meeting, changing the tone completely.
Quoting the post, the employer declared, “Corper Kunle, oya tell it to their face.”
He admitted the episode took him by surprise, noting, “That was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my entire NYSC year. I honestly wasn’t prepared for that.”
