Ewor Claims Fubara Surrendered Rivers State to Wike During Emergency Rule
A former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara effectively handed over the political structure of the state to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the imposition of emergency rule.
Ewor’s remarks came after Fubara publicly declared his support for the APC candidate, Chinda, ahead of the next general election. According to Ewor, the endorsement was not surprising because, in his view, Fubara had already relinquished significant political control during negotiations held while the state was under emergency rule.
He alleged that during those negotiations, Fubara transferred leadership of the state’s 23 local government areas to Wike’s camp and failed to inform his political supporters of the outcome, leaving them without clarification on the new political arrangement.
