Phil Foden Signs New Manchester City Deal Until 2030
Phil Foden has put an end to rumors about his future by agreeing to a new four‑year contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
The 26‑year‑old England international, whose previous deal was set to expire next summer, has pledged his long‑term loyalty to the Premier League champions as they embark on a new chapter under head coach Enzo Maresca.
Foden, who made his senior debut at 17 under Pep Guardiola, has grown into one of City’s most successful academy products. He has made 369 appearances, collected six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups.
After signing, Foden said, “Committing my future to City means everything to me. Playing for this club is all I’ve ever wanted to do, and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt.” He added that he is eager to work again with Maresca, whom he praised for his role during the Treble‑winning 2022‑23 season.
The new agreement follows a challenging period for the midfielder. He was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the summer World Cup after an inconsistent league campaign in which he started only 23 Premier League matches.
Despite that setback, Foden remains among the league’s most reliable attacking talents. Over the last six seasons, only Mohamed Salah and Ollie Watkins have matched his feat of scoring double‑digit goals in every campaign.
His peak season arrived after City’s Treble triumph, when he registered 27 goals and 12 assists. In the past two seasons his output has dipped as his tactical role shifted deeper, with Jeremy Doku, Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki providing width and support behind Erling Haaland.
Last season he contributed seven goals and five assists in 33 league outings, compared with seven goals and two assists in 28 appearances the year before.
