A Nigerian woman residing in Canada has sparked widespread attention after compelling her spouse to swear publicly that he will remain faithful before she permits his relocation to join her.
The individual, known on Facebook as Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, published several updates detailing her rationale for insisting that her husband record and share a vow of loyalty on both Facebook and WhatsApp.
Wife stipulates terms for husband’s Canadian relocation
In one update, she stated that her husband must produce a video confession in which he pledges unwavering faithfulness should he succeed in moving to Canada.
“Prior to receiving a Canadian visa, my husband is required to film a confession, upload it to Facebook and his WhatsApp status, declaring that should he be unfaithful to me, Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, after arriving in Canada, he will face divine consequences, and he vows to stay loyal, be a devoted husband, and act as a responsible father to our children.”
“Lord, I ask that my husband Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue and his partner be struck down if he ever engages in sexual relations with anyone besides me, Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, upon reaching Canada, in Jesus’ name, Amen. Furthermore, no persuasion can alter the reality that my husband will certainly perish if he indulges in any sexual activity with another person or creature while in Canada, unless it is with me, Ezinne Maryjane.”
Husband delivers recorded pledge
In a circulated video, the husband openly affirmed his dedication to stay faithful to his wife should he succeed in relocating to Canada to be with her.
“My dear wife, guided by God and motivated by the desire for your and our children’s wellbeing, I no longer wish to see you suffer; I seek tranquility in your life and in our marriage. I admit and pledge that, should I ever be unfaithful to you after moving to Canada, I will accept death in the name of Jesus Christ. My aspiration is to be the exemplary husband you deserve. Although we have endured three years apart from you and our children, I strive for the utmost happiness and prosperity for you and our offspring. I honor my vow to you, my love; I wish for your joy and will fulfill any request that brings you happiness. Consequently, if I ever betray you in Canada, I accept that I will perish in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Please forgive any past grievances and continue forward with our loving household; I solemnly promise never to divorce you. I disregard external opinions; my sole focus remains you and our children. Nothing will compel me to abandon you. Remain joyful, my wife—I cherish you deeply, dear. I will share this message in whatever manner you prefer, so you may witness my affection and trust.
