Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has voiced concern about striker Viktor Gyokeres’ muscle injury. The Swedish forward was substituted during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory at Burnley last Saturday.
Gyokeres, a £64 million summer signing, scored before his halftime exit. The 27-year-old has since missed training. He will be unavailable for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Slavia Prague.
Arteta Confirms Midweek Absence
Speaking to BBC Sport, Arteta confirmed Gyokeres’ exclusion. “He’s definitely not available,” the manager stated. “He hasn’t trained today. We require further tests and scans. These will determine the injury extent.”
Serious Concerns Raised
When asked about the injury severity, Arteta expressed worry. “I am concerned,” he admitted. “He rarely has muscular problems. Leaving the pitch is never positive. Especially for such an explosive player.”
Arteta added: “We’re investigating the injury thoroughly. Updates will follow once we have clarity.”
Gyokeres has impressed this season with four Premier League goals. His absence worsens Arsenal’s injury situation. Arteta confirmed seven players are currently sidelined. Affected forwards include Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus.
