INEC Provides Labour Party Access Code for 2027 Governorship and State Assembly Candidate Nominations
The Labour Party (LP) has confirmed that it received the access code required to upload the particulars of its candidates for the 2027 governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
Ken Asogwa, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made the announcement in Abuja on Monday, stating that the submission process began on Saturday.
According to Asogwa, the exercise has proceeded without major difficulties, and a substantial number of candidates have already been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) nomination portal.
He added that the LP is working to complete the upload within the timeframe stipulated by the electoral commission.
“The Labour Party can confirm that INEC has provided the party with the access code required to upload its governorship and House of Assembly candidates to the INEC nomination portal.
The upload exercise commenced on Saturday and has been progressing seamlessly. As of this morning, we have uploaded a substantial number.”

Asogwa noted that the earlier challenges encountered similar difficulties during the upload of presidential and National Assembly candidates, but stressed that the problem was not unique to the Labour Party.
He explained that many political parties faced obstacles due to discrepancies between the names on their internal lists and the records available on the INEC portal, requiring a harmonisation exercise before successful submission.
Meeting INEC Deadlines
INEC had previously released deadlines for all political parties to submit candidate particulars ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Labour Party assured members and candidates that it is working to ensure all required information is uploaded correctly and within the approved period, following INEC’s guidelines across all states.
