A video of Pastor John preaching on Lagos streets has gone viral, urging young men to avoid romantic relationships for three years to achieve financial success.
In the widely shared clip, he told passersby that maintaining a girlfriend before becoming financially stable makes it difficult for men to save money and improve their lives.
He advised that any young man seeking to thrive in Lagos should stay single for at least three years, viewing marriage as the only relationship worth pursuing.
The pastor claimed it is nearly impossible to build wealth or accumulate meaningful savings in Lagos while spending money on a girlfriend.
He questioned why some men appear to struggle financially while their girlfriends seem to enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle.
Pastor John remarked, “Your girlfriend looks well-fed while you’re thin, your pants are loose. Some Lagos men spend so much on women they could afford a Korope, yet they lack even a simple bicycle. Therefore, stop dating and marry directly; if you’re unmarried and want to succeed in Lagos, stay three years without a woman and you’ll prosper.”
He added that abstaining from relationships for three years gives young men enough time to save money and invest in building a better future.
When a bystander asked whether avoiding women for such a long period is realistic, the pastor responded that it is entirely possible.
Citing the Bible, he noted that with God all things are possible, encouraging young men to stay disciplined and focused on their goals.
