Switzerland Captain Granit Xhaka Vows Maximum Effort Against Argentina
Switzerland’s captain Granit Xhaka expressed confidence that his side will leave nothing on the field in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter‑final against Argentina.
Speaking at a press conference in Kansas City, Xhaka urged fans to keep dreaming, noting that dreams can become reality through hard work, sweat and giving 100 percent.
He added that achieving their ambition may require trying something new and pushing personal limits, insisting the squad is prepared for the challenge.
The midfielder acknowledged the difficulty of containing Lionel Messi for the full match, but stressed the importance of staying compact, closing gaps and limiting the Argentine star’s space.
“We have to be very smart,” Xhaka said. “We’ll stay organised, deny him space and look to control possession when we have the ball.”
Reflecting on the historic opportunity after a 72‑year wait, Xhaka said he feels proud but is focused on action, eager to showcase the team’s mentality and make Argentina work hard for victory.
