A Nigerian woman has accused members of the Nigeria Police Force of attacking her and her younger sister following an unprovoked incident after they left a nightclub in Surulere, Lagos.
She said the ordeal occurred early Friday after she, her sister and a friend exited a venue where they had celebrated her upcoming birthday.
According to her account, they had just narrowly escaped being struck by a fast‑moving commercial bus when several officers allegedly tried to push them into a patrol vehicle without offering any reason.
She stated: “They seized my neck, wrist, blouse and wig, demanding that I board their bus. I \ repeatedly \ asked \ why, \ \ insisting \ I \ had \ committed \ no \ offense.”
She claimed that passers‑by intervened, questioning the officers and stopping them from taking the women away.
The woman added that when her sister began filming the encounter on her phone, one officer allegedly sprayed pepper spray into her eyes before attempting to confiscate the device.
After she confronted the officer about the spray, three officers reportedly shoved her to the ground.
She recalled: “They hit me so hard that my head struck the floor. People nearby said they heard the impact. I was unable to move, and the officers drove off, leaving me there.”
Neighbours, friends and other onlookers came to her aid before she was taken home.
Later that night she lost consciousness while asleep and was rushed to hospital the next morning after her mother discovered her unresponsive.
The accusations have triggered widespread anger online, with many Nigerians demanding an investigation into the officers involved.
