The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended key members of its National Working Committee (NWC) aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. The suspended officials face a one-month suspension and referral to the party’s disciplinary committee.
Affected members include National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Organizing Secretary Hon. Umar Bature, National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), and Deputy National Legal Adviser Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha. Party spokesman Debo Ologunagba confirmed the suspensions.
During their suspension, the officials must cease all party duties. Deputy National Secretary Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo will act as National Secretary. The National Director of Legal Services will oversee the legal department.
The suspended members had withdrawn from party activities recently. This worsened existing divisions within the PDP.
A Federal High Court in Abuja recently ordered the PDP to pause convention preparations. The ruling requires resolution of internal leadership disputes first.
Ologunagba stated the party will appeal the court decision. He emphasized this won’t disrupt convention plans. “We respect the judiciary but will challenge this ruling,” he said. “Our convention preparations continue unchanged.”
