Former Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo, has accused Governor Alex Otti of redirecting funds designated for local governments. During an Arise Television interview, Chikamnayo asserted that these actions have paralyzed grassroots development across the state.
“Alex Otti has completely mopped up all funds destined for local governments,” Chikamnayo stated. “He has grounded grassroots development and made it impossible for councils to function effectively.”
The former commissioner clarified that Deputy House Speaker Benjamin Kalu’s demands for accountability shouldn’t be misconstrued as political conflict. “There’s no personal issue between Kalu and Otti,” Chikamnayo emphasized. “All we request is for the governor to practice what he preaches regarding transparency.”
Chikamnayo justified these accountability demands by referencing federal allocations. “President Tinubu has released exceptional resources to states. With these funds, citizens rightly expect visible development outcomes,” he explained.
He concluded that governance quality must be measured by deliverables, not rhetoric. “A governor’s performance isn’t judged by slogans but by matching resources with tangible results. When this balance is missing, citizens have every right to demand answers,” Chikamnayo stated.
